Welcome
At Home and Away Petcare Solutions is a company that can provide support to pet owners by providing a range of services to sustain or enhance your pet's wellbeing. Entrusting the care of your pet to a stranger can be a little daunting and on this page, I hope to alleviate some of those concerns by providing a brief history of my experience with pets and because I work alone and do not employ staff to help me, I take full responsibility for your pet and property. I am insured with the National Association of Registered Petsitters and Licensed by Coventry Council to provide a Home Boarding Service and inspected regularly by them. I also hold a CRB Check Certificate.
My History
Pets have been a very important part of my life from being a small child. Much to my mothers horror I kept spiders, moths, stick insects, frogs and worms. I was then allowed to graduate to a tortoise and a succession of hamsters and guinea pigs and then like a lot of girls I developed an obsession with horses but unfortunately one of these would not fit in the back garden.
In my early twenties I became involved with greyhound racing. Our dog was kept in racing kennels but I was not comfortable with the conditions and care that he received so decided to make provisions for him at home. I then took out a permit licence to race and train the dog myself. One dog then multiplied to four racing dogs. The dogs I acquired came from kennels that did not want them because they had problems of one sort or another but with personal attention and a lot of care I succeeded in getting them all on the race track. As a team we had a very happy and relatively fruitful six years. I kept my dogs as pets after their racing days were over and as they passed away replaced them with more retired racing greyhounds.
After my last dog went to join the others in doggy paradise it became impossible to replace him because my career had become more and more demanding with working longer hours and travelling across the country. I decided a career in petcare would give me far more job satisfaction than my current position and so my new vocation began.
I have cared for dogs of all shapes and sizes and cats of all colours and personalities, from Budgies to Parrots, from Mice to Chinchillas. All have given me hours of entertainment and pleasure. Every day is different and offers a new challenge and the satisfaction I receive from seeing happy and contented pets makes it all worthwhile.
My racing and retired dogs... SPOT the odd one out!
